Arizona bound - Day 3

Day 3 started in Tulsa. We drove east to Catoosa and visited the famous Blue Whale on Route 66. From there we took Route 66 and drove to Clinton, OK to go through the Route 66 museum. This took us back to our youth. We had hoped to make it to Amarillo,Texas but fell short. The weather is in the high 60's and beautiful. We hope to make it a little further tomorrow.

My back is getting better but still a little stiff. I am hoping to download some pictures so I hope it works. If not, I will be emailing you all some pics.

Arizona bound - Day 2

Hello family and good friends,

Day 2 on the road was very interesting. We left St. Louis, then stopped by an Cherokee teepee gift shop. Trying to take an inside picture, I stepped back to take a award winning picture, I tripped and fell backward, ripping my jacket and my pride. I thought everything was cool, but later my back started to tighten. I drove the rest of the day with ice on my back. It is better this morning.

In Lebanon, MO we were directed to the Route 66 Museum and Maria's Cafe which were located in the Library. Very cool. Lots of memorabilia from Route 66. Also a deliciously healthy lunch. Took lots of pictures which will be posted later. We drove until 6:00 pm and stopped at a Best Western in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Today we are heading to Catoosa, OK looking for the famous blue whale. We need to be careful because visitors are not encouraged to stop. There is a sign which reads "KEEP OUT OR EAT LEAD". Perhaps we can still take a picture from the road. Later we will be heading on to Texas. Don't know how long that will take, because we are not sure what we will encounter on the road. This trip is an adventure in the making. Our plan is to stay in Amarillo, TX tonight--perhaps we will or not.

Until next time, stay cool.....Jerry (and Patty)

Arizona Bound-Day 1

Jerry and Patty have arrived in St. Louis. We are visiting our good friends Steve and Judy Goodspeed who live in St. Peters. When we arrived, Judy had lunch ready for us. Delicious!!! We are eating at a Japanese Steakhouse tonight. This evening we are planning a rousing game of Quiddler. We also plan to teach Steve and Judy a new game--Pegs and Jokers. We are leaving for Tulsa tomorrow morning. We will have more to share as we continue our trek to Arizona. Jerry
